About Bessie
Bessie’s work exists in a dichotomy of the politically playful. Silly and contemplative; humorous and introspective; it is an entertaining and absurd commentary on the polarised political landscape we live in. Forging printmaking, painting and sculpture, she creates garishly bright scenes anchored by a chilling sense of social disorder.
Alongside her painting degree at Edinburgh College of Art, she is National Director of Sexpression:UK, co-curates Scotland’s first National Saturday Club and works in the fundraising department at Waverley Care. Sexual liberation and empowerment fuels her work and activism.
